Is it weird that I miss stretching? Mostly I miss stretching because it means I am about to go running…
Related: Today I’m finally going to see my doctor about my knee, hoping to have some kind of resolution by EOD; all I’m asking for are healthy joints, is that so much to ask?!

Almost at my fundraising goal!

Please help me reach my goal of raising $5,000 towards the Cancer Care unit at South Shore Hospital, I’m only $750 away. This year, I ran the Boston Marathon in memory of my mother - the strongest woman I have ever known. Any donation is greatly appreciated: thank you in advance!

It’s been over a week since I ran, so I think it is about time I get myself back on a workout schedule. With a little hope, my knee will miraculously be back to normal and my stamina will still be superb. Can’t a girl dream?

Don’t doubt yourself.

I’ve recently accomplished one of my life goals: running the Boston Marathon. While it was no easy task, it was definitely worth it. I’ll be honest, when I first signed up to run I wasn’t sure I was 100% able to do it. Blame it on injuries, self-doubt, lack of confidence - but every training run, every morning, I surprised myself. Each additional mile I ran was empowering.

Now that I know I am capable of doing anything I put my mind to…I need a new goal. Yes, another marathon is in my future - but I am also looking for a few other challenges in between.

Anyone have any suggestions?

And I did!
It was a long 26.2 miles on Monday, but I enjoyed every little bit of it. Some of my highlights:
Giving Ray Allen’s mom a friendly high-five as I ran by her around mile 7
Cheering on a mobility impaired wheelchair participant who was pushing himself backwards (with his toes!) to keep his face out of the sun
Spray tents. Enough said.
The Wellesley College girls with their ‘Kiss Me, I’m…’ signs - you are all hilarious
The BC crowds at mile 21, thank you for yelling your hearts out
My friends who screamed at me and kept me going - you all seriously rock
Having my goalie from my college soccer team jump in with a beer in her hand to run a few blocks with me
Allie - my friend who ran the final mile and a half to the finish line with me
My dad, sister and Cheryl - thank you for coming out in the crazy heat and crowds to watch me reach this accomplishment. Love you all.
[Post-marathon highlight] Finding out I finished just ONE minute behind good ol’ Tedy Bruschi and his wife - I’ll challenge you to another one…at some point
Now it’s time to heal this knee injury I got around mile 22, and then its time to celebrate! Congratulations to all the runners who participated on Monday!

A little humor for some post-marathon pain and recovery.

I’m going to repeat this to myself 452975 times while en route Monday.

I'm a former soccer player who has recently fallen in love with running. This year, I reached one of my life goals: the 2012 Boston Marathon! This experience has completely transformed my life, so here I am blogging about fitness, running, motivation, nutrition and staying true to yourself. Thanks for reading!
