Running Recap: Double Digits (!)

This weekend was something for the books. It was a personal accomplishment of mine that I would have never thought I’d be able to do a few months ago. I was about to embark on a double-digit-length run: 10 miles

I woke up bright and early on Saturday morning with a cup of coffee in my hand, a banana and some delicious Chobani greek yogurt. I knew what was on my plate for the day, so I began mentally preparing early on. I told myself, “it doesn’t matter how slow I got as long as I don’t stop”, which somewhat calmed my nerves and got me ready to run.

Aside from the wind (honestly, why is Boston so windy lately?!) it was a beautiful day for a long run. I made my way through the city, explored new side streets and took mental notes on eateries and restaurants I planned on returning to in the future.

After the majority of time passed, I was closing in on my neighborhood and decided to check in on my distance. Immediately, excitement and satisfaction took over: I had almost ran 11 miles! There was no sense in me stopping now and walking the rest of the way to my apartment, so I continued my pace to my front steps. I stopped my GPS, and stared at my success:

Beyond elated. Go me.

This is entirely correct - the rest of my weekend I was in a great the best mood.

Anyone out there have some fitness successes of their own to share?
