Tomorrow marks a new month, and a new workout challenge: Mad Abs March.
I had a few hiccups during Fab Ab February, due to some dehydration and a [most recent] pulled rib muscle.
March is my last full month before I race in the 2012 Boston Marathon, so I will be taking this time period very, very seriously. Mad Abs March? Sign.me.up.
Who’s with me?

This obstacle of mine
I can’t say I know how I did it, or when exactly it happened. But within the last couple of days I somehow pulled a muscle in my ribs, making it painful enough to breathe - never mind walk, or even run.
This lovely number above, courtesy of Rite Aid, has become my new best friend recently. I am hoping that this will be a quick recovery from the couch, because I can’t have this set...

JustKeep-Running: 10 Eating Tips for Runners →
justkeep-running:
1. Eat Before: If you’re heading out for an hour or more, you should eat at least 30 minutes before you run!
Suggestions: whole-grain cereal with milk / honey on toast / oatmeal / bananas and peanut butter / fruit and nuts / granola / energy bars
2. Or Sip Something: If you’re not hungry…
What surprised me on this list was the suggestion to have pizza the night before...

It was a 16-mile-run kind of day, with some high...
As you can see from my recap, I did it. But I’ll be honest: there were a few times during this run yesterday that I wasn’t sure it was possible. For starters, Boston had something like 29 mph winds?! I mean, my 118 pounds can’t compete with that kind of power. Every once in while, as I lifted my feet with each stride, the perfect gust of wind would appear and almost cause me to...

It’s true, I won’t be the first one across the finish line at this year’s Boston Marathon. But I will have completed a personal goal of mine, and I will crush my very first 26.2-mile race.
Help a sister out?
Editor’s Note: A few of you out there (thanks for reading!) have asked how I am running the Boston Marathon without qualifying. Honestly, I get this a lot. I have...

Found this pretty helpful when considering what to eat when running so many miles each week. Aside from the lean beef (I’m a satisfied pescatarian), I’m happy to state that I do include the rest of these food options in my every day diet.
What are some other foods you count on to power through your training?

Weekend Run Recap
I took an impromptu trip out to Western Massachusetts to visit some friends whom I haven’t seen in way too long. Knowing I had my 15-mile run scheduled for Saturday, I packed my running gear along for the ride.
After settling the excitement for this overdue visit, I decided to plan my trail. The one thing I was concerned about most was not being familiar with the area, and not only having...

Because I have a 15-mile run tomorrow, and while I WILL finish every step it may not be pretty.
Admittedly begging for your support

It’s true, there is pain during the runs. But it’s a good kind of pain, right?
Also related: I came across this awesome Pinterest board during my daily browse for running motivation and found everything I was looking for and more. If you’re: a) not on Pinterest and/or b) not following this board, I highly recommend making both of those happen ASAP. Seriously.

This has to be true, because after I’m done running the last word that comes to mind to describe my reflection is “cute”.

I came across this quote and it made me feel good, so I thought I’d share.
Directly related: My goal for today was to run 10 miles. 10! Should be easy after the 13.2 I ran last week, right? Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
I’ve been out of the game for a week, and yes, expected a little bit of difficulty today…but there was a whole lot of difficulty going on today. A whole lot.
My 10...

I’ll be honest: I’m dying without running.
It’s only been a few days that I have had to miss my workouts, but I can not wait to get back to business.
[Dear body: please stop yelling at me and clean up your act; girlfriend’s got a marathon to train for.]

I've been told that I can't run until this...
according to my doctor. Within the past couple of days I have hit a brick wall and my body is yelling at me. What I originally thought was the flu (thank goodness I was completely wrong about that) ended up being that I’m very dehydrated and my electrolyte levels are super low. Go figure.
So now my doctor tells me I need to give my body a rest this week before I try pushing it even harder....
